Among the many high jewellery collections unveiled earlier this year, Brazilian designer Fernando Jorge’s High Fluid collection stood out for its thoughtful use of unique materials. Jorge is a relative newcomer to the jewellery world, having debuted in 2010 with his graduate collection at Central Saint Martins in London. Some pieces in the High Fluid collection boldly combine river pebbles with diamonds, an idea inspired by Jorge’s visit to Brazil’s Chapada Diamantina National Park.
Jorge came across an earthy-hued dry river bed that was once a source of alluvial gemstones, inspiring him to create earrings, rings and bracelets using brown river pebbles paired with diamonds of the same color. The smooth surface and mottled tones of the pebbles contrast beautifully with the bright sparkle of the brown diamonds.
Boucheron is another famous brand that presented its high jewelry collection at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 in late January. Boucheron presented the latest creations from its “Story of Style” collection, a 24-piece collection called “The Power of Fashion.”
The bow necklace is made up of 435 matte crystals, cut into narrow tubes and fixed in such a way as to resemble the texture of a grosgrain ribbon – Boucheron’s craftsmen managed to convey the softness of the fabric using diamonds and crystals.
